Sweden: From 2023 new gambling law planned

The days when the market for gambling are unregulated seem over. More and more countries have issued laws in recent years to regulate the market and, above all, to stop the illegal gambling. Now the Swedish government has also announced that on January 1, 2023, a new law should come into force, which is primarily intended to strengthen player protection and act against illegal gambling. In the past, Swedish politics was strictly against violations.

Measures against advertising from foreign providers and payment closures

The current draft law provides for a number of measures to lead to the regulation and optimization of the online gambling. In particular, from now on against advertising for gambling from providers who do not Sweden come. In particular, numerous foreign providers would currently use the opportunity to advertise on the Internet and on social media. The companies would be intelligent by using the Swedish language. At first glance, it is therefore not recognizable for the Swedes that they are not a provider with a Swedish license. The payment service providers would have to undertake that they no longer want to accept transactions to non-licensed providers. This is much more efficient, since IP barriers are easy to avoid and a lock is conflict with the constitution.

Strict regulations for bonus allocation

The bonus was limited and companies sanctioned that did not maintain the requirements. In February of this year, penalties between 2.41 and 6.28 million $ were known against different providers. They had offered players bonus payments. In addition to the gaming companies, the manufacturers and sellers of software for gambling are also subject to a licensing process from July 1, 2023.

Over 90 gaming providers
