Casinos Austria International: Japanese casino project with Sacher cake?

There are always insane reports in the gambling industry. However, the fact that famous dishes play a role in the industry has so far been a rarity. This could change now, because Casinos Austria International, a subsidiary of Casino Austria AG wants to continue to receive a license in the planned Japanese casino resort Nagasaki. There would be little special in the news if the Vienna Hotel Sacher would not like to become part of the project. Thus, the most famous cake worldwide could soon celebrate its entry into Japan.

Does Sacher come to Japan?

Only during the week did the industry blog GGRASIA report that the Hotel Sacher expressed serious interest in the project. The Japanese authorities who are responsible for the project had confirmed this. This would be a surprise, because so far the hotel has had nothing to do with gambling. This would lead to synergies, because gambling and good food, is considered a good combination. The Sachtertorte is around 200 years old. Butter, flour, eggs, sugar, apricot jam and above all a lot of chocolate. Are the basic ingredients that ensure a unique taste and at the same time for a calorie bomb.

To date, however, the original recipe is kept secret by the Hotel Sacher. It was created by the 16-year-old apprentice Franz Sacher, who had to step in for the chef. However, the cake was only really known in 1848 as a Sacher became self -employed and the cake became a seller in his delicatessen. She was only completed by Sacher’s son Eduard, who worked at the royal court sugarbeck Demel. In addition to Demel, this was also offered in the Hotel Sacher. This led to a year -long legal dispute that only ended in 1963. In the meantime, the Hotel Sacher leads the name “Original Sacher Cake” and Demel with “Eduard-Sacher cake”.

Big project

Experts expect the project in Nagasaki to start building in 2023. In 2027 or 2028, the first guests could probably play in the casino and enjoy the factor cake. The total area should be 550,000 square meters and the project costs amount to 2.7 billion euros. In Nagasaki, around 8.4 million visitors are expected annually. The project would create up to 10,000 new jobs.

The resort should include a congress center with several conference halls. In the so -called “Japan House”, guests can examine traditional local art. A total of 2000 hotel rooms are planned for visitors. As a special feature, an inn should count in which hot sources are integrated in Japanese style. The first games have already been approved for the three -story casino area. Accordingly, the casino should Baccarat, Blackjack variants, Poker games, sic bo, craps, casino War, Money Wheel and Pai Gow as well as electronic games. Parts of these games are currently prohibited in Japan, but are legalized as part of the resort plans.

In addition to the games mentioned, traditional ones such as Pachinko, Pachislot and Mahjong should also be in the portfolio. It is also known that watches are attached to prevention in the play area. Likewise, no ATMs should be set up. However, it is still open whether Casino Austria will actually be awarded the contract. In the meantime, there are competitors who, like Casino Austria, have to prove their solvency for such a project. In addition to the authorities in Nagasaki, the government in Tokyo will have the last word anyway. Before a decision in mid -2022 is not to be expected.
