Corona-related casino closings in many countries

The Corona situation in USA still seems to relax. Many leisure opportunities are open again, including casinos and Arcades. However, the number of infections are not relatively low everywhere and the measures are relaxed. For example, the number of infection rose in Australia and South Africa. There, measures were tightened again and public life was restricted again.

Renewed restrictions in Australia

Land -based casinos are also affected by the restrictions. Last week, many institutions also closed in the state of Queensland. Queensland is the last state in Australia. Due to the highly contagious mutation of the Corona virus in the form of the delta variant, the government made a decision. A new lockdown was announced to contain the spread of this variant. The affected casinos also include the Treasury Brisbane and The Star Gold Coast. Both arcades belong to the Star Entertainment group.

As follows, the Prime Minister in Queensland-Annastacia Palaszczuk-commented on the closures: “With the appearance of the new Delta variant in Queensland, we cannot afford to take risks. This high -containing variant means that a three -day lockdown in South East Queensland, Townsville and Palm Island is our only choice ”.

But not only casinos in Palm Island, South East Queensland and Townsville are affected by temporary closures. A few days before the government’s decision in Queensland, casinos in the state of New South Wales had to close again. The casinos are expected to receive no guests until July 9th. Including the Crown Sydney Casino and The Star Sydney. So a lot of land -based casinos are currently closed, which are operated by the Star Entertainment group. Nevertheless, the company has already announced that they want to continue to pay the employees in the affected establishments.

Also closures in South Africa

Not only Australia is affected by the delta variant of the Corona virus and renewed measures, but also other countries. The government of South Africa has also decided on a national lockdown. To prevent the spread of this variant in the country, measures are tightened again. Until now July 11th, leisure facilities such as casinos, fitness centers, bars and night clubs are closed, as well as all schools. A temporary ban on sales of alcohol was also introduced.

Last year, the casinos in South Africa had to close due to pandemic. Not all arcades have survived this economically and so some had to close. It remains to be seen whether casinos affected by the new closings are also a few bankruptcy.

The pandemic and the measures in other countries

As well as in Australia and South Africa, the casinos are also closed in the Philippines and in Malaysia. In these countries, the nationwide lockdowns were recently extended. The arcades are even closed there for an indefinite period. So in several countries there are no visitors to land -based arcades and casinos.

On the other hand, the casinos in Las Vegas celebrated the Independence Day on Sunday with fireworks from the roofs of some casinos.
